"Pay
Per Click-101"
Chapter
3
Now Lets Set Up A PPC Account
With Yahoo:
Please once again, turn on your computer, if not already on, and go to www.yahoo.com
Scroll
all the way to the very bottom of the page, and click on the small blue
text link that say “Advertise with us.” Next select
“Search Marketing.”
At the time of me writing this the sign up button is located on the top
left of the next page. Click on it, or find where it is on the page in
the event it’s been changed or moved.
The Yahoo pay per click service is laid out in “5 simple
steps.” Number one is to select your geographic location to
target. Click on this step to get started.
Select “Entire Market” for starters which in my
case displays U.S. and Canada. (generally all the English speaking
countries are O.K. to target if that is your language preference.)
Now click on the blue button that says “Next: Keywords
>.” Yahoo, similar to Google, will be taking you
directly into the creation of your very first ad when creating your
account. With Google we created our ad text first. With Yahoo we will
be entering our keywords first.
In the box on the left, begin to enter keywords, one per line. I
realize that you may not have any thing to promote yet so
let’s follow this example for the sake of getting your Yahoo
account set up complete.
This part is real easy, you know why? We can use the exact same
keywords and even ad copy as we used in Google. Now stop and think for
a second how easy it is to double your traffic simply buy creating a
carbon copy of your Google campaign with Yahoo. So you don’t
have to go back in the text, here are the examples again.

A little hint
for you, just copy and paste the above list right into the
keyword area in Yahoo. Left click, hold and drag your mouse across from
top left to bottom right of every keyword, highlighting them all, then
release your click. Now simply right click inside the highlighted area,
and left click on copy. Now right click inside the Yahoo keyword box
and left click on paste.
When all your keywords are in, click on “Next Related
Keywords,” but do not select any. Simply continue on past
this page by clicking on “Next: Pricing.”

Daily Spending Limit:
In this section, as we did with Google, we will be setting our daily
spending limit to $5.00 Enter in 5.00 and click “Next Create
Ad.” O.K. now a 30 day estimated cost of $150.00 we show,
along with Yahoo’s recommended bid per click. We will always
be starting out with a bid of $.20, regardless of what Yahoo recommends.
Back space out the recommended bid dollar amount, and enter in .20 Now
click on “Next Create Ad” again.
Let’s
Use the same ad we use with Google. Here is the example again:

Critical Report (Description)
In the PPC
101 Investigation.
In the URL box line you would always enter the destination you want
people to be taken to when they click on your ad. For our example,
let’s enter www.payperclick-101.com
Now click on “Next Review.”
Enter
Your Personal Account Information:
At this point simply follow the yellow brick road. You have to create
your own username and password that you will use to login to your own
personal account with. After doing so, you can click on the
“Activate Now” button or select to save and
activate later if you were following our example above.
Next you will need to enter in a valid credit card for billing any time
a person clicks on one of your ads, and I would recommend the pre-pay
option.
When you are done, please log out of your account. Bookmark the login
page to your favorites or write down the address so you know where to
go to login. Here is the link if you lost it:
Click
Here to Login To Yahoo.
Lets go there now and login to see how easy it is to create new ad
groups.
Enter your Yahoo username and password, and let’s begin.
When you login you should find yourself within the
“Dashboard” section of the page. Down below you
will see your campaign that we just created. This is a campaign with
one ad in it, and we want to begin to build it up.
Click on the campaign name which is probably set to a default name of
campaign 01 or something like that. The ad we just created will be
listed there and you can simply click on it to make changes or ad to it
in any way. Here you can also pause it or delete it if you
wish to.
Let’s now click on the blue link that says “Create
Ad Group.” To do this, you will either need to create an ad
for something that you actually would like to drive traffic to, or
create a dummy ad just to learn how to ad them.
Name the ad group for your internal purposes only, this will not be
displayed to any one but you. Leave all boxes checked as they are, and
click “Next: Choose Keywords.” In the box on the
right hand side, begin to enter your keywords. I do not recommend using
the keyword suggestion tool on the left. Every one uses it, and it
makes those selections tend to be a little expensive.
Next click on “Bid.” Remember $.20 is your always
going to be your starting bid amount.
From here, you will simply repeat the steps as we did when we created
our first ad. It should begin to seem fairly straight forward at this
point.
The general idea with building a big ppc ad campaign is to continually
make new ad groups within your campaign, covering all related topics to
the page you are driving traffic to.
I never stop creating new ads. This is what I mean when I talk about
“turning up the juice.” The more ad groups you
create, the more traffic you will get.
